Creating a BIM/VDC model that is coordinated between all trades creates clarity and accountability. If a clash exists in plans or onsite, the model can be used to determine the remedies or disciplinary outcomes and helps provide a corrective action for the issue in a rapid fashion.
Fully coordinated BIM models offer pin-point accuracy which promotes trade coordination, conflict resolution, delivery of accountability, rapid completion of submittals, material ordering, guidance for site level decision making and minimizing crew sizes and construction waste. BIM is a multi-faceted tool that ultimately results in time and cost savings to all stakeholders.
BIM gives us the ability to create packages and prefabricate in-house, including custom parts and systems. These plans can also be leveraged by third party custom fabrication vendors and other sub-trades to powerful effect.
We can input bill of materials from our models into our estimating software thus creating an extremely accurate estimate of time and area for any part of a building. We use these estimates to create schedules and set onsite goals for all of our installers/foremen.
